Striped Bass Conservation Regulations Set for Spring 2020

Sadly, Maryland’s new regulations are intended to skirt the real issues and they go against the good intentions of the ASFMC. Maryland came under fire for their conservation equivalency proposals from the board and almost every other state that is on the commission during the February 4th meeting. I was in attendance virtually if anyone has questions on specifics. It was not pretty. Based on the new regulations, and continuing an unsavory history, Maryland will continue to be the problem when it comes to saving the striped bass populations along the east coast. New Jersey isn’t much better.

Please do your part to safely release your striped bass and limit your targeting to safe temperatures and salinity. You can also educate others who may be misled or mistaken to think that the Maryland regulations are putting the striped bass population rebuild at the forefront.
