Assalaamoalaikum WRB,

Here in Saudi Arabia, almost only available milk is from superstores (Almarai, Nada, etc. brands). I have not been successful in making yougart with this milk with superstore yogurt as starter. Any tips, please share.

JazakAllah Khair,

Asalam O Alaikum,

Never use the long life milk for making yogurt, fresh milk that is refrigerated and has a shorter shelf life is the best for making yogurt & any yogurt as a starter will help you.
To make a thick yogurt, we boil the milk & cool it down, then the started is added. and we prolong the curing time to 48 hours for thickening the yogurt.

Milks from commercial brands are produced in bulk; where the cows are fed with artificial food. But some shops are available in our neighborhood (like Haleeb Joza, etc.) that sell fresh milk.
Its quality is far better. But again, it is out of reach for all people. And Organic milk is expensive.

Almost 100 % of your food is contaminated, so eat / drink with Duas and seek Allah's Protection; the damage will be reduced Insha Allah.

as salam alaikum, wa rahmatulaahi wa barakatuhu,

it would be best for all our health if we avoided milk unless we knew the source and rearing and grazing of the animals,
when you have time please read this short extract from a piece of research i'm carrying out at the moment,

as salam alaikum wa rahmatulaahi wa barakatu brothers and sis*stars,

the bacteria found in milk is called acidopholis, it is  not found exclusively in milk.Unless the milk is raw or organic from a source that can be trust that they handle the cows with care  and the cows were able to graze on grass in the field, a person who is wise  would be much better offer getting their useful bacteria, acidopholis, from other sources and learn  about fermenting foods.

You can get acidophilus from plant sources, such as whole-wheat foods, barley, onions, tomatoes, bananas and garlic. Honey also contains varying concentrations of acidophilus, according to authors of a paper published in "Journal of Food Science" in 2012. They tested 13 samples of Malaysian honey and found that all of them contained levels of acidophilus that displayed antimicrobial activity against bacteria. Acidophilus supplements are also available in the form of tablets and suppositories, and as freeze-dried granules, powders and capsules.
