If they are doing AP Calculus BC, doing polar graphs is really fun to do with the rover.

Euler's method (Hidden Figures scene not really ancient) is also essentially how the rovor can be programmed to move: Turn an angle move delta x, get new slope, move delta x.

The speed is the derivative of position. Most anything with motion connects to calculus and the rover moves :)

I did time displacement graphs which could be done as rectilinear motion in a calculus setting.

Thanks for sharing the idea about plotting the polar curves with TI-Rover

I also really like the idea of using the motion detector data.

 

Is there anything we (TI) can do to make it easier to use the TI-Rover in the classroom (as opposed to in the math club)?

More sample activities? More “getting started” documents?

Yes, I think that Sample activities for the rover for the various mathematics (and science) classes would be a boon for its increased use.
