We have a few 3D printed projects that can be used with the TI-Innovator Hub, TI-RGB Array, TI-Rover etc.

They range from useful (a holder to keep the TI-RGB Array upright) to whimsical (eye-frames for TI-Rover).
One example is the 3D printed heart for the "Four-Chambered Heart" activity at https://education.ti.com/en/resources/stem-projects

Do most folks here have access to a 3D printer? If we shared these designs, would you be able to 3D print them for your own use?

Regards,
- Harshal

Harshal,

you bet!

All,

let's share other helpful 3D projects that make TI-Innovator life easier. Here's one I can offer:

A friend of mine has created a simple snap-in holder for the ultrasonic sensor module. You can glue velcro tape onto the rear side to make the US sensor stick realiably wherever you need him. Attached photos show my Innovator Hub which has a spot of velcro on the side. This way the sensor is held firm in place and you get much more reliable reasults than with the sensor module floating around on your desk. Also you can mount it on the Rover side, to detect empty parking spots in your parallel parking project. The good thing about velcro is that you can use it many times, different to the Scotch sticky tapes (which attract all kinds of other tiny objects you don't want to carry with your Innovator gear).

See more details (and a thingiverse link to the source code) on T3 in this article.

Have fun,
HMH

P.S.: Stephan had used the four chamber heart model in our January MINT class. Kids were really excited! And we had one of the coaches bring a little finger tip sensor to measure the heartbeat pulse from the kids index finger with the Innovator Hub. That was very cool.

Yes, Harshal, we would definitely be interested in these designs.
And, yes, we do have access to several 3-D printers in our STEM classroom

I’m curious about 3-d printing. I’m introducing robotics next year and I’m developing a list of must-have materials for projects with TI-Basic, Python, Rovers, the Innovator, and possibly Micro:bits.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Liz,
thanks for re-voking this old (Covid times...) thread here!

I would be interested in a 3D-printed replacement for the penholder of the TI-Rover, converting the holder to a e.g. Servo driven, pen-up/pen-down version. The Servo could easily be controlled via one of the OUT ports of the TI-Hub.
On top of that, a rear-mounted, pen-up/pen-down pen holder would create some new possibilities of drawing with the TI-Rover.

Maybe something like this already exists somewhere?

Thanks,
Hans-Martin

A little while back, when I still had access to "cheap child labor" in my STEWM class, one of my students designed a holder for the RGB-Array that attached to the top of the Innovator Hub. Needed to replace the screws with a longer version, but it worked great. We also got some 20-pin adapters for the hub's wires, which made it easier to connect and disconnect the array from the hub.
If anybody's interested at all, i might be able to locate the 3-D .stl file somewhere.

Hi Jody,
I'll move our 'conversation' off group.  Check for the file in separate email.
