Dear Garden Club Members,
This is a reminder that we will have a meeting next Monday, March 10th.
We will meet at the St. B's Parish House at 6:30 p.m.
We will start with a potluck. I will bring a main dish to share. If you are able, please bring a salad, vegetable, dessert or beverage. Or just come without bringing anything......... your presence is the most important!
During dinner we will catch up with each other and our Spring gardening plans. Spring is officially 15 days from today!! We will also talk about plans for some summer garden walks- one in Ten Hills and one in Catonsville.
At 7:15 we will have a speaker from the St. Bartholomews' Creation Caretakers, which is St. B’s green team. Leah Kulp will present the topic “Environmental Justice and Urban Forests.” The goal of environmental justice (EJ) is to promote a clean, safe, and healthy environment for everybody. Come learn how carefully tended urban forests are examples of EJ in action, and what Creation Caretakers, with help from other community volunteers, is planning for Uplands Park (the woods abutting the St. B's parking lot and the edge of Ten Hills).
Finally, I would like everyone to know that we need to have new officers for our club for next year (starting in the fall). Neither Marilyn nor I plan to continue in our current roles. Please give strong consideration to taking leadership in order to keep our club going. We need a President, VP, and Sec/Treasurer. If you have any questions about what these roles entail, please feel free to give Daphne a call at (410) 440-0342.
See you Monday,
Daphne Cover Marilyn Timmel
