Esteemed colleagues,
I’m looking for some plastic caps for panel-mount XLRs. A while ago, i worked in a theater with a large installation of panels. Most were rarely, if ever, used, so they kept the XLRs clean by putting these caps on the unused circuits.

I asked at that theater, nobody remembers what they’re called, or where they came from. The googlewebs aren’t divulging the secret.

Does anyone know what I’m looking for?

thanks in advance,

Nat Koren

Close, but not quite what I’m looking for. I did see this on my way through the interwebs.
Thanks!

If they’re not custom for XLR ends, maybe grab a set of calipers and see if one of these generic tube end caps will fit the bill?

McMaster has several other categories of cap-like things that may fit the need, too.

How about something like this? Swamp Industries are an Australian supplier/distributor of primarily “generic” brand AV gear. Don’t know where these would be sourced in USA. Swamp would ship though.

Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner!   They’re in the UK, but this is the best match so far.  Thank you, this list has been invaluable.

Hello,

Another [possibly] cheap option would be to 3D print a bunch of caps. Someone already made a model for them (link below) and I'm sure there are more designs out there. If you know anyone with a 3D printer these could be ready in a few hours for a dollar or two worth of filament.

Best,
Palmer

Close,  they’re for the company’s cable-end XLRs.  Cool concept though.  Redco Audio carries them in the US.
