Dear Friends

Wishing you all the blessing of the New Year!

Archer Meditation  and Agapes
Our meditation and Agape gatherings will commence again in March 2026.

Planning for Archer Earth Community 2026
Our planning meeting for Archer Earth Community 2026 will be held on Wednesday 4 February at 2461 Sandgate Rd Boondall.  If you are unable to come but have suggestions please let either Tony  AEHemp...@edmundrice.org or Di hear...@gmail.com know.  As for Agape we will gather from 10am for a 10.30 start and end with a shared lunch so please bring something to share for morning tea /lunch.

Thanks from Welcoming the Stranger
To our dear Archer Agape friends,
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity to our people seeking asylum/refugees. We are deeply grateful for you shining  the light of Christmas on them through your generous  gift. Once again, it is truly a tangible sign of love and light and welcome from the Archer community. Thank you for your gift cards and financial  contributions which will be passed on. It means a lot.
Thank you!
With love and Christmas blessings.
Penny, Ted and Peter (Welcoming the Stranger volunteers)

Visual Meditations from Emmaus Productions
Emmaus Productions have a series of meditations based on Laudato Si.  This meditation entitled, A Great Heart is based on the writings of John O’Donohue.  See https://www.emmausproductions.org/laudato-si/laudato-si-en/#hm-agh

Wild Art
The annual Wild Art competition conducted by the Australian Conservation Foundation is open to primary school children and each piece depicts a threatened native species accompanied by a written message from the artist.    The work of these young conservationists is truly inspiring. The painting below by Oliver aged 12 is of the endangered yellow spotted tree frog and is entitled Echoes before Extinction. See https://wildatart.acf.org.au

Key Dates

26 January Australia Day / Survival Day
As we approach 26th January, ANTAR presents some ideas for rethinking how we commemorate this national day

2 February World Wetland Day
The theme for World Wetlands Day 2026 is “Wetlands and traditional knowledge: Celebrating cultural heritage," focusing on the vital role of indigenous and local communities' ancestral knowledge in sustaining wetlands, preserving identity, and promoting sustainable management for future generations, highlighting the deep connections between people and these ecosystems. See

As we welcome the new year we are reminded that the work of Christmas has just begun:

When the carols have been stilled,
When the star-topped tree is taken down,
When family and friends are gone home,
When we are back to our schedules
The work of Christmas begins:
   To welcome the refugee,
   To heal a broken planet,
   To feed the hungry,
To build bridges of trust, not walls of fear,
   To share our gifts,
To seek justice and peace for all people,
To bring Christ’s light to the world.

- by Michael Dougherty, a variation on Howard Thurman’s ‘When the Song of the Angels is Stilled’
