I saw that!
My beef is it's only 1W and 2m. The creator says it costs about $30 to build (I'm almost certain we'll see some Chinese kits for this). I doubt we'll see any ready-made ones for that price since it would have the be type accepted by the FCC. If you, as a ham, build it yourself, any spurious emissions are your doing not the manufacturer.
I can hardly hit any repeaters around here from my house with 5W and a decent antenna - I doubt 1W would work around here.

I'm sure there will be more development in this area in the future.
