Hey Diane,
👋 I recall meeting you on the Paletta day trip. That was both of our first experiences with Th Pipits. I’m not booked on the Long Point excursion but I saw your post to Colleen about accommodations in the area and thought I would respond as I have some experience with this.
You are correct, the only hotels/motels are in Simcoe, Tillsonburg or Port Burrell. All are more or less 40 minutes away from Long Point PP.
I’ve had luck with Airbnb and VRBO for cottage or other types of rentals. Most of the cottages are booked early or have minimum stay requirements but a couple of options come to mind. VRBO lists several condo units in the $200-$250 range right at the big curve in the road as you enter Long Point on Hwy 59. These may be more flexible on length of stay.
If you don’t mind a bit more rustic accommodation, between Port Rowan and Turkey Point there is an eco adventure place (search for LPFUN) that rents very basic 4 season micro cabins - a bed, heating or AC and a washrooms within or nearby) you can rent by the day.
Last, there used to be a nice B&B in downtown Port Rowan but can’t recall the name. You might try searching for B&B’s specifically but nothing came up in my Expedia search, which is where I found it previously.
Good Luck and good birding!
