Rich,

You may be on to something!

If the below Find a Grave memorial page is correct, it has Charity Drew Davis, as his wife and 4 of his known children.

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/44489651/jeremiah_davis

But, Find a Grave is only accurate as the person posting the information has the correct information.

Jeremiah Davis is a common name, and how did Jeremiah end up in Ohio?

I would like to see some other vital records that could confirm this is the correct Jeremiah.

But it is interesting!

Laura

I agree with Laura as the FAG information is put there from some person and other sources are needed.
I have seen this FAG listing before and have it listed as a possibility to follow up on.
I belong to American Ancestors so will check this site for any information and let you all know if I find any source to verify this Jeremiah Davis.

Rich, Kathy, and Davis Family Group,

What I have been able to figure out.  This gets complicated, and is a mess. When I first started looking at this, so much did not make sense.

Rich, the “Grave Registration Card” you found is for a different Jeremiah Davis. That Jeremiah was married to a Jedida Tilton and they had 6 kids.

https://familytrees.genopro.com/Azrael/596327/family-JeremiahDavisAndJedidahTilton-F44180.htm#1

Below is the link to the Find a Grave page for the incorrect Jeremiah:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/44489651/jeremiah_davis

Below is the link to the Find a Grave Page for the incorrect Charity Davis:

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/106469950/charity_davis

As a side note, Jeremiah, Jedida and family migrated to Ohio, in 1821. I even created an Ancestry tree for this Jeremiah, Jedida and family:
https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/202599186/person/302641423857/facts

What had happened is that the FG page for Charity got totally jacked up. Charity Davis was a young girl who died at the age of 6. The problem arose in that the original page did not have much documentation other than the date of death and burial location.

Someone got on the FG page and requested edit changes to Charity to match our Charity Drew Davis. They added an incorrect birth year and location, added an incorrect husband Jeremiah Davis of Ohio, and added a maiden name. By adding the husband to Charity’s page, that automatically adds a wife to the incorrect Jeremiah’s FG page.

And then 4 other people saw these pages for Jeremiah and Charity and added these incorrect parents to their Michigan Davis family members, Sarah, Jeremiah, Charlotte and Levi.

Thankfully, the page for Charity has been corrected to show her correct birth date and that she was the “daughter of Samuel and Sarah Davis, aged 6 years and 6 days when she died.”

1 of the 4 incorrectly added children (Charlotte) has been corrected. I am still waiting for my edits to be accepted for the other 3.  If the FG requested edits are not accepted or denied, they will automatically be applied in 21 days.

I have also seen that the FamilySearch page for our Charity was incorrectly updated with the incorrect information. I have fixed that. (I just noticed that Jeremiah on FamilySearch is messed up and I will have to correct that.)

I was going to wait until all of changes were in place, but I wanted to get back to Rich and Kathy about what I found.

Whew!

Thank you, Laura.
I long ago realized that the information on FAG for Charity Davis was incorrect.  For one thing, traveling from Vermont to what is Livingston County, NY would not be traveling through Sullivan County, NY.  I have other ancestors from Sullivan and Orange Counties so I have done a great deal of research in that area.
And thank you too for doing enough research on the Ohio Jeremiah Davis to prove he is not our Jeremiah Davis.  If one follows the Armans, Drews and Holtslanders with all of their intermarriages to our Davis line, it is fairly easy to track their migration.
I have not been able to yet find any verifiable date from American Ancestors, but still trying to work on research as I have time.

We all have spent a lot of time researching this family.

And nothing has been easy, but we can tell when something is incorrect.

I just hate it when people grab incorrect information and put it where it does not belong!

😀
