moving hives - hive beetles

I watched a youtube on hive beetles, and they talked about underplanting around the hive with plants that dissuade hive beetles:  wormwood, tansy,  catnip, spearmint, lavender, marigold basil.

I had not considered the plants around my hive, which is currently weeds and nasturtiums.  

If I wanted to at least weed around my hives - 

1)  Question - any tips on moving my hives out of the way while I weed and then moving them back? 

2). or just insuring a weeded space and then moving the hive to the new spot - but it would be 5-6 feet away from the current location?   How far can a hive be moved?

The gross misconncdfion of bee turning aggressive with yard work  :

-couples years ago my neighbor replaced their roof 15 feet away from my hives i dont think noise can bemore bothering , incidentally right in my hives flight path .

- last year the other neighbor did theirs  

- this year we had 90 feet of fence torn down and replaced 20 feet from the hives 
- they have been worikng in the street for over 2 months concrete sawing jack hammee excavator you name it . 

- again this year they replaced the sewer line on a side street likewize . They compacted the soil using power wequipment sending vibration into houses , there is a feral bee clony right where they worked .

In all instances not a single issue.

-i had a pesty hive which was dealt with thank “Sung” but that was a different issue . 

      Otherwise never any ptr lem , do it early in the morning and you should not need go move your hives .

I do run my weed wacker and power blower right in front of the hives nevere had as much as a buzzing , you are welcome to see how I do it in the middle of the day .

I also have weeds and lots of nasturtiums around my hives, which when it gets high enough, like Joel, I weed by hand without protection and without moving hives.  In close to 15 years now I have never had a small hive beetle infestation.  I think that small hive beetle issues are mitigated in our very dry summers where there is basically no rain for 5 months because their larvae require moist soil to pupate in so it's hard for them to build up in numbers.  And I don't water anywhere near my hives.

On a different point I would not expect any of these plants to deter SHB and the youtube video is just a nice story. For spearmint to do well you have to keep it continuously damp, great for SHB pupation!  Others will require regular watering.
