I have a couple of second year queens to give away. One is a 2025 Randy Oliver queen. Both overwintered well with low mite count in late Feb, but not super mite resistant (mite counts of 14 and 27 about 4 to 6 weeks ago, so treated with Formic Pro, after which their hives look a lot healthier). One made about 140 lbs of honey in South Berkeley this Spring, the other about 80 or so. Both have mellow temperaments, I have been working them without smoke bare-handed mostly without being stung. I am replacing them with their daughters. I have these queens in nucs, each with a few frames, so you could just swap a couple of frames (with drawn comb or wax foundation, I'm phasing out my use of new plastic foundation) for frames with her and her bees on it, that way you can grow the nuc for next year or unite with an existing hive. Or bring a queen cage (I'm not that good at catching queens but we can give it a go). I have way too many hives to keep them.
Reply to me privately if you want one or both. I go out of town July 6 for 5-6 weeks.
