The homeowner just called - I had to apologize repeatedly.

Yesterday a beekeeper saw a swarm on the homeowner's lemon tree.  Took his ladder, cut down the big branch, and shook the swarm in a box and left.
This was done without the homeowner's permission because he was at work.  His
neighbor saw the whole thing and told him this morning.

Please DO NOT trespass on someone's property and destroy plants without the owner's permission!!!!  That's bad behavior for an adult!!!
Sheesh,
Gina

This wasn't a call from the swarmlist was it?

No.  I checked the address, it wasn't called in.

OK copy. Yesterday, I self-reported a swarm from a lemon tree in a host yard that I got to minutes after they clumped and shook into a bin (no branches cut). All with the home owners approval.
Some circumstances do allow for the swarm to be collected and removed. I also take home swarms I get to and shake early in the morning. What I don't do anymore is vacuum up swarms. Thanks.

Plus, if we don't have permission from the homeowner, we won't post.  Still, even if someone sees a swarm on a property that is not theirs.  They have no rights to the swarm.  We live in the bay area, not the wild wild west.

Was it reported to ACBA swarm list? How do we know it’s one of our members?

I like to think we have a sensible community in the members of this swarm-list.
The permission and trespass awareness is second nature.

Whoever it was was poorly trained, or watched the wrong youtube videos.

I try to limit my clipping to just the dead branches if it comes to clipping at all.
I'll use a cup to scoop bees before cutting a limb.

Thanks for the posting, Gina

This is stupid ! Why trespass and vandalize someone else property
, there is a whole list of legal actions the homeowner could take , Sad and pathetic!
