I love to care for my bees and I love the honey they give me. But I don’t enjoy harvesting honey. Is anyone out there willing to harvest my capped honey for a portion of the honey? Just throwing it out there.

Mimi, perhaps you should start selecting for queens that produce little honey. Perhaps you will come upon a honey-less honey bee.

I don't mind extracting.  I maybe could do it quarterly - but I haven't a clue on how to figure out how much honey would go to who.  And also logistics - would it include putting them into little jars, small jars or just one big jar?

Ha ha Nils, I like honey, I just don’t like harvesting it.  Takes over my kitchen for months.
I do have honey less bees -  my bumblebee rescues.   Mimi

Yolanda - if giving away I find small cute Amazon jars make good thank you gifts:
Small jars sell faster at school & stands. 9-12oz jars.  Large jars are sell slower as majority of mom’s in my community buy more as supporting small businesses and allergy remedy than usage (for bulk they go to Costco).

I frame medium will only give you ~3 12oz jars.  1 frame deep will give you more so using smaller jars will be better.  Consider crushing and using manual extractor/filter for 1-2 frames: https://a.co/d/1j4AkMA
My honey journey -
Year 1-2 keep honey mostly for myself, friends  family & neighbors  (not much honey made by 2-4 hives)
Year 3-5 sold some honey through word of mouth.  Daughter has lemonade & honey stand.
Year 4-7 starting selling in bulk to few moms (4 families took majority of honey bees could make).  During COVID sold honey online with door drop off services (I just needed to get OUT of house - lost $ on free delivery).  Up to 24 hives.
Year 8-11  Presently. Didn’t harvest (took out a frame here or there as needed); I injured shoulder.  Harvested this Feb last year’s honey. The equipment is literally still taking up space in kitchen table.  And now I’m finding way to take harvesting off my plate as this year’s honey needs to be extracted.  Actively downsizing (down to 4 honey hives with supers. 7 nucs/1 or 2 deep hives, no honey supers).   Gave away 70 lbs of honey to homeowner of last extraction (he was very thankful).

Hope that helps.  Mimi

Keeping bees does feel overwhelming at this time of year. Hive full of bees and honey that need our attention.

I have all the "stuff" - big a@@ extractor, super nice uncapping tank, fancy roller uncapper, awesome heated honey tank - and keep waiting for the dog to figure out what to do with them. I blame it on no opposable thumbs. Luckily it's a task that SIL Jake is willing to take on and share with the granddaughter. 👍🏻

Wow. Didn’t even know all the type of gear existed. Would love to help someone for a round to get tips on how to extract efficiently

Set-up and clean-up of extractor is the most time consuming part of extraction, particularly for small amounts of honey.  (10 hive or less). As backyard beekeeper I usually just crush my non flow hive frames.   To maximize honey production regular Langstroth frame works much better than Flow hive.

You need to get honey into bucket with honey gate to jar it.

Last year or earlier this year Greg Mau organized bulk purchases of uncapping bins for $150.

Calc for weight of honey to ounces in jar:

My good hives will give me 90-120lbs of honey.  3-4 super.  Less productive hives ~50-70 lbs (1-2 super).  Most of my supers were deep but I’m back to doing medium now too.
