recognize the faded characters in an image captured from a mobile camera

I am trying to recognize the faded characters in the attached images. I tried different segmentation (global and local thresholding) methods before passing the segmented images to tesseract for recognition. I couldn't get satisfactory results. All the attached images have to be recognized properly. sample3.jpg image is relatively easier to recognize by tesseract. Can anyone provide more inputs or reference on recognizing the faded characters from all the attached images?

The quality of your images is too bad.
Use a better camera.
Pre-process the images (e.g. with OpenCV).
