Works Tesseract with Neuronal Networks ???

Hello,
i have tried to find a answer of the question : how work tesseract ? But still could not find a 100 % answer.
Works it with neuronal networks or something else ?

There's a presentation on the inner workings of Tesseract, but it doesn't cover the classification process in detail.

I think Cube mode uses some sort of Neural Network, but the normal engine uses a k nearest neighbor classifier with a class pruner (see the linked slides).
