Please help me how to use tesseract ocr. I am a beginner and I spent 3 weeks , please friends help me.

My project is "licence plate recognition" and which code is used only detect the image and number plate but not recognize the number plate. To solve this problem I used tesseract ocr but no gain . please help me how to use tesseract ocr.

Hi Iqra Anwar,

Sorry, I didn't understand your question. Tesseract is an OCR engine and helps you only in recognizing characters in the number plate. If you are getting a poor accuracy recognizing characters, you might try some Preprocessing techniques before giving it to tesseract.

 In case if you want to detect number plate in an image, you might try some object detection methods or Cascade classifiers.

How I combine “License Plates-OCR master” with “LPEX master”

Hey Iqra Anwar,

     Hope you are doing well. Now I understand 😃 I assume you get coordinates of text from your text detection code. You could use Pillow or OpenCV to crop the text area out of the image. You could use pytesseract. Please refer to this link. It's a python wrapper for Tesseract.

Optional:

Tesseract has an scene text detection algorithm, as you have your own one, you could save some time by disabling the script run to detect text by tesseract. Try changing the --psm modes to 7 or 8 based on your text detection code output.
