segment image before send it to tesseract

If we do the segmentation beforehand, can we send it to Tesseract and replace the segmentation tesseract is doing? I have x, y, w and h from my own segmentation method. I don't want to crop the image because I still want to treat the image as a whole image and maintain the positions of the text.
