Is anyone noticing that some international websites are very slow to respond to requests this morning?

Oh, I thought it was just us and something going on with DNS.  Yes, we're noticing it this end too, very atypical.

We have had an issue today which we believe was upstream DNS issues showing as our fortigaurd failing to respond to web filter requests.
I changed my fortigaurd server from only US to lowest latency and that has seemed to bring everything back up for us.

Well done David. I was searching the 'net and didn't manage to find that info.

It’s a shame N4L didn't immediately reach out to socialize some visibility around yesterday’s nationwide 2degrees network disruption.
Had they proactively touched base, we would have been able to instantly inform staff that this was a third-party upstream infrastructure
issue entirely outside of our operational scope.
No deliverables on our end, so the matter is a closed loop.

There is a post on their Alerts page - https://www.n4l.co.nz/category/alerts/ - "Speed and loading issue on the network"; presumably that was regarding the same issue.

Alas if there's a way to subscribe to emails for these alerts, I'm not aware of it.
There is an RSS feed at https://www.n4l.co.nz/category/alerts/feed/ - though RSS is so unloved these days that browsers don't seem to have any built-in support for it.

2degrees' status page - https://www.2degrees.nz/network-status - shows "monitoring".
Multiple telcos (or perhaps upstream thereof) had maintenance work last night (~11pm-2am); I don't know if this was related.
