Hi, I had a teacher asking for the AI image generator for Google Slides she saw at a recent course...   After some looking and a discussion with said teacher, I was given this message from them..  Is this an option for Workspace Education or just in personal??

<SNIP>
This looks a little bit like what I saw: https://support.google.com/docs/answer/13635180?hl=en

What I was shown on the day was, when in Google Slides, you go
Insert >Image > in this drop down list there was an option to generate an image with Gemini
<SNIP>

I see this on my personal Google account but not business or education accounts.

cheers

Looks like it's part of Google Workspace Labs...

Pete> Is Google Workspace Labs available for Google Workspace for Education accounts?

Gemini> No, Google Workspace Labs is generally not available for Google Workspace for Education accounts.
Gemini>
Gemini>  A key eligibility requirement listed by Google for accessing Workspace Labs (which includes
Gemini>  experimental features like those powered by Gemini) is that you cannot use a school account and you
Gemini>  must be 18 years or older.

Mōrena all,
Image generation on slides is a Gemini pro (paid) feature, along with Veo video creation in slides.
The images can be made in no cost Gemini (with full data protection and no model training) , but outside of slides, copied and then added in
The Image here shows slides in a school account with no Gemini licence on the left and the right side shows slides in an account with Gemini licence.

Labs  (labs.google) is where we post our experiments and new projects.
Some new products are available but many are not under 18

Have a great week
Steve

Thanks for the feedback (and a great workaround Steve), I will let the teacher know.  Isn't great when they attend a training course which covers products not readily available to schools :)

cheers

Hi William ,
This is all available now , but I would have hoped it would be flagged as a paid feature for the gemini one and a restricted feature for labs.
