Greetings and Happy New Year! Hope you are having a good 2026 so far and have been getting out on the snow if you like to do that.
This email is to invite you to our annual winter meeting, at the usual place, the North Elba Town Hall at 2693 Main Street, 3rd floor, Lake Placid 12946, at 6:30pm, Thursday, February 12, 2026. Pizza and water and soft drinks will be provided.
We hope you will attend! Please encourage anyone you know who isn't yet a member but is interested to come too--we are always looking for new members and the more the merrier! We will have a Zoom link that we'll share later for those who can't attend in person.
We will visit and get to know each other/catch up a little, hear about recent races and other adventures and plans for the coming season, and discuss possible team rides and events.
Importantly, we'll also discuss the yearly team clothing order, once again headed up by the intrepid Darci Whitney, your vice-president (thanks Darci!). There are new developments regarding the clothing order and we have appreciated your input so far but need more. Here is some detail:
In view of the strong support you expressed for changing up our jersey (and other kit) design this year for the first time ever, our plan is to come up with a new design. We are interested in any ideas you may have for the new design, colors, etc.
We are also deciding whether to stick to our long-time clothing supplier, Voler, or switch to Verge Sport, which has made a strong pitch for our business, and would appreciate your input on that too. So if you could please look at both of their websites to see what your preference is BEFORE our meeting, so that you can express your druthers, that would be great.
Briefly, the pluses and minuses look like this:
VOLER:
+ American made and sewn in California
+ We've had good service for them for 20+ years
+ Their quality and customer servide are both very good and Darci knows their system well
- Less flexible ordering than VERGE, delivery slower
- Not as extensive a product line as VERGE
- Some people haven't liked Voler's fit, though that is likely going to be the case for some people regardless of what supplier we use
VERGE:
+ Very convenient and flexible ordering: "team store" always open, even for one piece
+ Very fast delivery times
+ Larger product line, possibly especially for multi-sport (triathlon)
+ We have heard good things about them
- Not made in America (currently made in the Phillipines)
- There are always some unknowns switching to a new supplier
Cost is not likely going to be much different: all good kit is expensive!
Note that this is not meant to be a comprehensive list, and some folks may disagree with some of these characterizations.
