Tuesday Transportation Oddities

For decades a bridge, officially known as the NX Bridge, carried trains of the Erie Railroad across the Passaic River in New Jersey. The last train traveled over the bridge in 1977 and the bridge is now in a permanently open position. What makes this bridge a transportation oddity is the role it played in a movie. In 1982 the bridge was used for a dramatic scene in the movie Annie. In it, Annie climbs the open bridge to avoid being caught by Rooster. Today the bridge is perhaps better known as the Annie Bridge.
