Not being clever enough I'm looking for xml files that suite my needs.

Now the embarrassing questions:

  1. is this a profile or a task (need to know this so I know which tab in tasker to import into)
  2. I tried importing as a profile and navigated to the download folder but tasker cannot see "see" the file it says must be .prf.xml which must explain why it's not seen - So do I rename the file extension?
  3. Am I missing the point and there is an easy way to import this into Tasker?
Thanks

What you have there Tom is a Project.xml, which contains both Profiles and Tasks.

To import this, long click on the house icon (default project icon) in the bottom left corner of Tasker screen and select Import Project from the pop up menu.

Let us know how it works,

Logan

Thank you.

I’ve imported the xml file and setup ran. It runs fine (any idea how I change the voice?)
Excuse my ignorance, and it probably doesn’t matter but when I open Tasker under profiles, it shows under profile, a profile that I had previously added is shown. This new profile is displayed at the bottom of the screen next to the house icon - is this right? I would have expected both to be showing together in the centre of the screen?

Thanks

Tasker can save Profiles and Tasks to a project for import, but cannot save the order in which they are displayed. You can manually edit this by long clicking on any Project or Task until it highlights, then dragging it up or down the list and releasing finger when its hovering over where you want it (this sometimes takes 2 or 3 adjustments to get just right)

Changing the voice can be done a few ways. If the voice comes from SAY then you can open that and select any voice on your phone including purchased TTS apps.
You can also replace SAY with the new SAY WaveNet, which has an abundance of voices speaking both their native tongues, and english in different accents. (I personally like English (United Kingdom) A (FEMALE) to make my phone sound sophisticated)

Let me know if you need any further help,

Logan

This is what I meant about the profiles displaying, the latest one is at the bottom of the screen.

The voice is showing as com.ivona.tts:eng-USA if I change the USA to UK would that work?

Thanks

That is actually the project you just imported. You originally had the single project field of that default house icon, now you have 2 projects saved. You can now short click on that "say who is calling you" as its actually a button. This will take you to the screen where you can view and edit all the profiles and tasks associated with that project.

All new projects you import are going to become clickable text in that bottom horizontal field, filling from left to right and eventually becoming scrollable from left to right to show all projects saved. There is no changing this behavior/position in Tasker.

Once you have loaded up several projects, there is a Left/Right option to adjust the left to right order in which they appear, so you can always move a new project you are working on to the far left to be always visible

I just realized I never addressed "The voice is showing as com.ivona.tts:eng-USA if I change the USA to UK would that work?"

I believe what you have posted is the name by which Tasker Identifies that TTS, and I doubt you can even edit that - if you could it would just make the line unrecognizable to Tasker as it wouldnt match an installed TTS file name.

The way to change from  com.ivona.tts:eng-USA  is via the dropdown menu.

Hope this helps,

Logan
