The AutoInput gestures (AutoInput Action > Field Point) keep giving up and the only way of making it work is to restart the phone, which I've had to do twice today and it's only lunchtime. It seems to be failing more frequently.
Swipes seem fine, but not taps. Either they won't happen (in the case of toggling fllght mode) or they come at much longer intervals (in the case of repeatedly tapping a tempo button on the metronome). Running any of the optimisation features of the phone have no effect.

(Unrooted stock Android 8.0.0, Huawei p10 EMUI 8.0.0)

Can you check if AutoInput says that your accessibility service is not running (in the main app) when that happens ?

It's just happened again. Accessibility is still running according to the app and the phone's settings.

Battery optimization is not enabled for Tasker or any of its plugins?

Do you get an error message?

I'm not a rookie! :-)

Where? I've got them switched off in Tasker at the moment because of those weird error messages that you said you'd disable. I don't think any error messages popped up for this before that though.

I mean when running the action in Tasker, is there never a useful error message? Thanks again

Can you maybe post a screenshot of Tasker in the task when it fails to work? Try to run the task manually... Thanks!

It looks exactly the same as when it works, but here it is - hot off the screen shot machine!

It pulled down the shade, waited, closed the notification shade, said all is fine. I've tried increasing the wait to a few seconds but that doesn't help.

I've just discovered that going into settings and switching accessibility off and on restores functionality.
(In case you didn't notice the other messages I posted the requested screen shot above).

Hmm, do you ever see a message saying that AutoInput has crashed?

I may have solved this. I can use AutoTool Secure Settings to disable accessibility then re-enable it. If I run both of these tasks before some of the tasks that fail it should keep it running.

Oh, that's great news, thanks for letting me know! I'll keep looking for the issue, but glad you got it!

It's weird that it behaves as if accessibility has been revoked but it doesn't say it anywhere.

My text or ID never works correctly, so i always use point x,y, but i never noticed it stops working after "some time" - in my experience couldnt perform when there was not enough delay (wait) so therefore phone was not idle

I've got a task turning accessibility on at the start of any task that needs it. This mostly works. Sometimes I have to open Tasker and run the accessibility task manually and then it works.

Oooh, sorry to have left you hanging. I run this at the start of tasks needing accessibility, it mostly works. Occasionally I have to run the task manually. I haven't needed to restart my device to get it working like I used to.

Hi all.
Also I have to fight with this problem. I have no clue what is the reason why AutoInput is giving up. In the RunLog every task is OK but then it says "ExitErr".
Looking at Accessibility settings of the phone (Huawei P20 - no battery savings activated and also the Tasker apps excluded and starded manually) it says that it is ON. also at looking in AutoInput. But when I disable the setting in Accessibility and enable again, it works fine again for some days.
Hope joaomgcd can fix this problem.

On the new Android 11 update for Samsung devices I notice there is a new shortcut option for toggling the accessibility service. I tried holding the volume up and down buttons and that will toggle the Autoinput service. Is there a way to mimic this on Taster? I'm not sure about other device manufactures.

Does running the AutoTools Secure Settings task manually in Tasker restore function?

I’ve tried it but even that would fail sometimes.
