Tasker accessibility permission periodically gets disabled.

I'm using the latest Tasker beta on my Android 10 device. Every couple days or so, Tasker's accessibility permission gets disabled for some unknown reason. Actions which need this permission then cause a dialog box to pop up, telling me to enable accessibility for Tasker, which I do. Then, things work fine for a while, until this happens again after a couple days or so.

I am not knowingly running any software which alters permissions of any apps. Also, this only seems to occur with  Tasker, and not any other apps for which accessibility permissions have been granted.

Does anyone know what might cause Tasker -- and Tasker alone -- to lose its accessibility permissions?

It's a known issue. You can use the Custom Settings action to work around it. I don't think anyone knows the root cause.

    Profile: Enable Accessibility (30)
    Time: From  6:00AM every 30m Till  1:00AM
    Enter: Enable Accesibility Enter (48)
    A1: Custom Setting [ Type:Secure Name:enabled_accessibility_services Value:net.dinglisch.android.taskerm/net.dinglisch.android.taskerm.MyAccessibilityService:com.joaomgcd.autoinput/com.joaomgcd.autoinput.service.ServiceAccessibility Use Root:Off Read Setting To: ]

PS: is there any Tasker context which could be triggered by an accessibilty error, and which could then be set up to re-run whatever task was previously running when the error occurred?

Hi there.
To make sure Tasker and the AutoApps run in the foreground please check here: https://tasker.joaoapps.com/userguide/en/faqs/faq-problem.html#00

Pay special attention to the location part. If Tasker doesn't have permission to get location in the background it might not work correctly, so disable and re-enable the location permission and make sure that you allow Tasker to always access it.

Make sure to check here too: https://dontkillmyapp.com/?app=Tasker

Hope this helps!

Thank you for your contact.

Join: connect multiple devices (send pushes, remote SMS, notifications) on Android, Windows, Mac, Linux
Tasker: customize/automate anything on your phone!
AutoApps: add advanced functionality to Tasker via plugins

Thank you for your reply. You already sent this exact response to my other thread in which I asked about Tasker not seeming to be running in the foreground on my device: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/tasker/JnUIJLunDSE

See your and my messages in that other thread starting on March 6 in order to see that unfortunately, those suggestions did not work on my device.

As for this current thread, the Custom Settings suggestion mentioned above is working fine for me, as I noted above.

I have a task that runs several times a day so I added a step to enable accessibility. You could set a profile to enable it anytime you get the notification regarding accessibility.
