Hello, So, I heard there would be more Siri voices to chose from in 14.5. I couldn't listen to the voices without downloading them. So, not I have a gigabyte of voices I want to get rid of and you can't just slide on the voice to delete it. What do I do? I hope I don't have to reset my iPad all over again just to do this. Any ideas?

Hi

I’ve had a quick play about with speech in the VO settings and it looks like you are spot on.

It seems odd to me that you seem only to be able to play a sample of a voice once it has been downloaded. Surely you need it more before you decide to download?

Obs you can delete a language from the rotor with a simple flick, but that’s not the point.

Looks like we should be writing to Apple Accessibility.

Best

Adrienne

OK, scrub that.

I just read a post on another forum and it was suggesting double tap and hold to bring up a context menu. Well, I couldn’t get that to work, but, fanfare please, if you flick up on the bit where it tells you the size of the voice, you get a delete option.

I haven’t tried deleting a voice to make sure it works, but let us know if it does:)

Cheers

Hey,

The sample actually plays before the voice finishes downloading. If you switch voices and hear a different sample, the downloading voice changes. I'm American, and the default voice was 4, this may be different in other languages.

That being said I cannot currently figure out how to delete a voice, but assume they will automatically be removed if not in use. Perhaps we should still contact Apple about a more explicit way to do this.
Best,
Zack.

Yes I think you’re right about apple Accessibility. Even if there is a way of doing any of this stuff, if it isn’t obvious then it’s not that good.

Cheers
