Hello,
So, y doctor wants me to try a new sugar monitoring system called Free stile libra. It comes with an app to scan I believe with the camera on your phone. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this or any other system with an app like this and if it would work with Voice over? My doctor is not sure so I told him I would write and find out.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi Jeff:
I’ve never worked with anything like that. I didn’t want you to think no one’s paying attention. You might check on Applevis.com, or you might just have to download it and do a little experimenting. Hopefully someone will jump in here with more useful info.
Best of luck, and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Jeff,
Yes, I have used the freestyle libre app. It is perfectly accessible, except for the graphs, and of course those are not. Once you have the sensor on your arm, you just hold the phone up near there and it works. Very easy. The hardest thing is talking yourself into installing the sensor. A blind guy talk to me through it the first time, and after that, it’s a piece of cake.

Hmm this is interesting. How does it work? i know about a patch you can buy that you put on your arm for a few weeks. Is this the same idea?

The freestyle libre is a continuous glucose monitor. You get a sensor that you put on the back of your arm, which last for 14 days. Actually, you get two of them at once for the whole month. So you have an app that works on your phone that will let you know what the sensor thinks your blood sugar is. I’m sure your doctor can tell you more.

Thank you all so much! This really helps. Now I can tell my doctor that yes this will work. When I do get it I will also post about my experience with it.

Hi Jeff,
I don’t know if you have been using the fingerstick method until now, if so, I would be curious how this compares with your experiences there. It seems to me that the readings for this device are a little high compared to the fingerstick.
