How to upgrade from Taiga 4.x to Taiga 6

Hi All,

I've an old Taiga instance on Taiga 4.0.3. How do I upgrade to the latest version. The upgrade documentation does not talk about Taiga 4 to Taiga 5/6.

Hi! Thanks for your interest in Taiga!

First of all, make a dump of your current database.

Then, for the back:

- update the code,

- update the dependencies 

- cp settings/config.py.prod.example settings/config.py <- and put in this new file your credentials an configurations. Besides, check the new configurations.

- DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=settings.config python manage.py migrate

- DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=settings.config  python manage.py compilemessages

- DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE=settings.config  python manage.py collectstatic --noinput

- add this DJANGO_SETTINGS_MODULE to your system unit for taiga back (you'll have to daemon reload)

- restart the back service

For the front:

- update the code (taiga-front-dist) and restart nginx

If it's working as it should, I suggest to check the documentation on how to install everything with the new recommended service: https://taigaio.github.io/taiga-doc/dist/setup-production.html#setup-prod-from-source-code
