This has to be a memory corruption. The lock being released here is
the mapping->i_pages xa_lock. That lock is never pinned. So somebody
has corrupted lockdep's data structures.

The only locks which are pinned are:
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gt/intel_context.c: rq->cookie = lockdep_pin_lock(&ce->timeline->mutex);
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/gt/selftest_timeline.c: to->cookie = lockdep_pin_lock(&to->context->timeline->mutex);
drivers/gpu/drm/i915/i915_request.c: rq->cookie = lockdep_pin_lock(&tl->mutex);
kernel/sched/deadline.c: rf.cookie = lockdep_pin_lock(__rq_lockp(rq));
kernel/sched/sched.h: rf->cookie = lockdep_pin_lock(__rq_lockp(rq));

Oh dear.

I think this bisection is wrong.

I sure hope it's wrong - that patch went straight from the mailing list
into mainline and two days later was added to what appears to be every
-stable kernel we own. It spent no time in -next except for a week or
so when I was sitting on an earlier version.

But I think the bisection is wrong. I don't see how d1dc87763f40 can
affect ntfs3 and pagecache truncate.

Does that testcase even use the security keyrings code? I'd be
suspicious of ntfs3 here.

Confused. How is it possible to do a git-bisect without a reproducer?

It's not a bisection; if it was, the report would say so. It's just the commit
that identifies the kernel version on which the problem was seen.

That's a shame. See my other reply for why this report tells us
almost nothing. It might be ntfs related, but even that isn't certain.

Auto-closing this bug as obsolete.
Crashes did not happen for a while, no reproducer and no activity.
