I want to know which projects of vector spaces are currently available to work on. I am interested in vector spaces, basis and dimensions, change of basis and etc. I was going to suggest a new project idea about matrices also.

In matrices I wanted to implement
  • Gauss elimination
  • Gauss Jordan method
  • Ranks and echelon forms
  • Linearity
  • Addition, Multiplication and Inversion of matrices
  • Linear equations with matrices
I looked at matrices folder in sympy. I didn't find any major stuff there. So I think all this has not been implemented anytime.

My area of interest is major towards vectors and vector spaces (though above things were my suggestions and I would definitely want to work on them too). So if any interesting projects are running on these topics, please inform me and guide me to contribute.

I have university level education and understanding of vector spaces and matrices.

Try:

  $ git grep -i gauss sympy/matrices/
  $ git grep -i echelon sympy/matrices/
  $ git grep -i rank sympy/matrices/

Yes! Found them. Is sympy going to be one of participating organisation in GSoC 2019?

We plan to apply. Whether we participate depends on whether or not
Google accepts us again.

I am glad sympy is planning to apply. Apply or not, I liked sympy and its features, and I want to work on current projects based on vectors and vector spaces. I have read the instructions for GSoC students and contributing page on GitHub. Please help me to get started with such projects. I am looking at general issues now and trying to solve them, but have not received any major responses. I bag your pardon if this is not the right place I am asking, if so, please guide me to the right place to get started. Again I want to work on projects based on vectors and vector spaces.

Regards,
