Hey all,

PyCon India is being organized virtually this year on Sept 17-20. I am interested in conducting an introductory
workshop on SymPy.

The last date for submitting workshop proposals is May 7. I found these existing
We can update them with new developments and I think they will be good to go. If anyone has any suggestions
on what we should include, or any other suggestion, please let me know.

Let me know if someone is available and willing to join. I have never done this before so that would be great.
You can find more details on the PyCon website (https://in.pycon.org/cfp/2021/proposals/).

Cheers,
Faisal

Hey, Faisal --

I am willing to join you! It was suggested by Jason in a thread last year to use and update the existing SymPy tutorial.
Based on the previous SymPy release, I suppose a lot of features can be added to the tutorial, for example - The Stats and the ODE
modules were extended and improved, some features were added to the Series, Vector, and Number Theory modules, a Control Systems sub-module was added, et al.

We could share a WIP proposal here if anyone would like to review it. It would be great if some previous years GSoC students
and other contributors could also join or suggest what should be included since the workshop duration is 2.5 hours.

Regards,

That's great, Naman.

Let's start with making a list of new improvements. We can then expand on them. This is a gitter channel - pycon-india (https://gitter.im/sympy/pycon-india). We can discuss details there and update this thread when necessary.

It would be great if some previous years GSoC students and other contributors could also join or suggest what should be included since the workshop duration is 2.5 hours.

Yes, more people getting involved will be more fun and we will have a better workshop. Please join if possible. We have about a month from now. Hopefully, we will get in.

Best,
Faisal

I believe SymPy should definitely take part in PyCon India 2021, this can enhance this package's community and usage. If you need any help you can let me know; I am volunteering for PyCon this year.

Regards
