Has anyone ever resolved an issue where the git command `git add -p` just hangs and does nothing? The only thing I notice is that when I ctrl-C to get back to the prompt, the intensity of the prompt is higher.

Whenever git has lagged for me (which is rare), it's because I'm
working in a repo that has some very large binary file checked in. I
would make sure you don't accidentally have something like that with
git status. Otherwise, you might try updating git.
