Hi everyone,

I am new to open source and would like to contribute to SymPy. While exploring the issues, I noticed that most of the "easy-to-fix" issues are quite old (over 3 years), and I believe they might no longer be relevant.

Could someone please guide me on how I can start contributing? Should I look for a newer issue instead? Additionally, are there any suggestions for implementing new features or areas of improvement where I can make meaningful contributions?

Any advice or pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Dear Prayag,

I have been using sympy and mostly a sub library of it for maybe four years, and I only made one very small pull request – so I am 99% a user only.

My experience, following the discussions, is that it is unlikely that an expert will tell you which problem you should tackle.

(…and how should they? They do not know your interest or capability)

If you go to: https://github.com/sympy/sympy/issues

you will find plenty of open issues to be solved.

Peter
