"Refactor the ODE module and make it fast" GSoC project

Hello!

I am Anirudh Prabhakaran, and I'm interested in working on the above mentioned project for GSoC. I have programming experience in Python, and have learnt about differential equations as a senior at school and a freshman at college.

In order to do so, are there any pre-requisite tasks that I have to do? Or submitting a patch on any topic is enough, along with the application?
