Hello everyone,
My name is Biswajit, a second year undergraduate student majoring in Mathematics and Computing.
I've developed interest towards applied mathematics, computer vision and deep learning over the last three semesters.
I've learnt Linear algebra, Partial differential equations, Probability and statistics in till now, and I'm looking forward to supplement it with Discrete mathematics and Numerical methods this semester. I have intermediate experience in python programming, and I'd like to get started with open source contribution with Sympy as my mentor organisation for the same.
Thank You

Hi everyone!

I'm Aniruddha Karajgi, a second-year at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, studying computer science. I program in a few languages but python is my primary language. I'm interested in mathematics, AI and backend development, especially using python. Because I feel quite comfortable with mathematics, python as well as version control(git), I wanted to start my open source journey here. Looking forward to having a great time and gaining tonnes of experience.

Hello everyone,

Good Day!

This is Shradhit Subudhi. I'm a graduate student of Information Technology & Data Analytics at Rutgers University, NJ. I've been working on Python for past 2.5 years and gained fluency in git over time. During my undergrad at College of Engineering Pune, India my major was Computer Science wherein I had keen interest in Maths and Physics.
I would like to start contributing to open source with Sympy as mentor organization because my interest lies on the same lines.

Hello everyone,

My name is Ritu Raj Singh, I am a second year undergraduate at IIT(BHU)  pursuing Mathematics and Computing as my branch.
I have been coding in python since my first year as we had a course on python.
I have done courses in linear algebra.
I have also taken courses of probability and I have studied introductory calculus in my first year.
I am very keen towards contributing to SymPy as I tried to contribute and made 6 pull request by GitHub userID-RituRajSingh878, and 4 of them merged.
so, I got an interest in sympy and I want to contribute more, so I am very much looking forward to guidance

Hello , I am mua computer engineering student at the university of Buea Cameroon. Open source enthusiast. I cam across sympy on the GSoC archives pages and i think i love it and its goals. My skill set is Python, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS. I code too in C and go. Also i have done relevant courses in Mathematics like probability and statistics, linear algebra, numerical analysis. I have an intermediate knowledge of Java but code fluently in Android. Looking forward to contributing to this org and also interested in GSoC 19 with you guys.
Thats me. please how do i get started any help would be appreciated thanks :)

Hello everyone,

I am Shubham Kumar Jha from National Institute of Technology Agartala. I am currently in the pre-final year of Undergraduate course in Computer Science & Engineering. I have more than four years of experience of working in Python and had Mathematics as a part of the curriculum till my sophomore year. I have good command over Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics, Probability, and Geometry.

I am applying for GSoC 2019 and would like to have SymPy as my mentoring organization. I came across SymPy while working on a project heavily using SciPy libraries. I have done some mini-projects involving SymPy. I have already been a part of the community for some time and I find the community very supportive. I would be contributing to the project and seek the guidance of the community.

Thanks,
Shubham Kumar Jha

Hello,

I'm Nishant Bharat, a sophomore student of Computer Science and Engineering from Raksha Shakti University, Ahmedabad, India. I came to know about Sympy from GSoC page and found it an awesome tool for symbolic calculations, just a small Python package capable of doing a lot of tasks. Even I used it for some of my own calculations. So, I wanted to dig deeper into Sympy.
I'm new to the field of Open Source Coding and don't have experience of working with codes of such large scale. Well versed in C, C++, and Python languages. Also have studied Linear Algebra, Calculus, Probability and Statistics and Numerical Methods, but all these remains at the theoretical level and want to practically implement these things through codes and learn Open Source Development.
As far as I've noticed, the community is very active and helpful, so I hope I'll definitely get help in getting started. My immediate goal is to get fluent with the coding and learn new things as I'm just a beginner.

Sincerely,
Nishant Bharat

Hello,

I am Vaibhav Sinha, a final year undergraduate at IIT Hyderabad, India. I am willing to participate in GSoC 2019.

I have gone through the project list. I am interested in the following projects:

  • Vector Integration: I have studied vector calculus and so am familiar to the math. I briefly went over GSoC work done by Sachin Joglekar (2014) and Prasoon Shukla (2013) who both worked on vector module for sympy. I think I would be able to extend sympy.vector to support integration.

  • Implementing symbolic logic and set theory: I have a good understanding of set theory and logic from basic undergraduate courses. This semester I am studying Fuzzy Logic and would be implementing it as a part of a project.

  • Probability Module: I have a lot of experience with probability and so I would like to take this up. However, Akash Vaish had worked on this module in 2018 in his GSoC and seems to have completed several of the tasks mentioned in the ideas document. Could anyone please update if this topic can be again taken up in 2019, perhaps to add more advanced features to the module?

  • Classical Mechanics (Efficient Equation of Motion Generation with Python).

Apart from these four, I am open to work on any other projects as well if any mentor thinks it suitable. During the course of bachelors, I have studied several courses in basic math like calculus, vector calculus, linear algebra, probability, and statistics etc. Moreover, I have taken up full semester courses on abstract algebra as well. I have significant experience in coding in Python and C++ and am familiar with git.

I would be grateful if any mentor would be willing to guide me for GSoC. If you could point out to some basic bugs/issues which I could take up, I could start working on it.

Thanks and regards,

Vaibhav Sinha
