Project on groups: Getting started with the implementation

Hi ,

I am Adithya Murali, an Math and Computer Science undergrad from BITS Hyderabad, India. I have good background in Mathematics, and I have done courses in Linear Algebra, Groups and Rings, Fields and Modules and I have done a project in Representation Theory (Linear Representations of Groups). I'm looking for some experience and context in Computer Science. I would not call myself a programmer but I have fair knowledge and experience in programming and I believe that I can take the effort to get myself upto the expertise of regular programmers. I would like some guidance on how to go about the project on Groups that SymPy is working on. 

I had been through the list of requirements mentioned on the Wiki. The concepts involved are tools that I deal with on a regular basis in my line of study. I would, however like to get started on the algorithmic and implementation aspects and require guidance in that regard.

Hi Adithya,

I suggest try to think of some subset that you can implement quickly (say in a week) and open a pull request. Implementing it will give you more ideas and our communication will be an order of magnitude better.

If you are looking for inspiration, you might start fixing EasyToFix issues in group theory.
