I liked the way apps and watch faces were on the pebbles better than the pixel or galaxy watches.
Something about the limited ePaper screen and simple OS that made for nicer more creative watch faces and apps.
There l are a billion terrible watch faces for the full colour OLED and LCD watches so it's hard to find any I like for my android ware watches.

I had one of the OG Pebbles back in the day.

Software was great, the app ecosystem was very experimental - nobody really knew what a smartwatch would be useful for so there was an app for everything (you could order an Uber directly from the watch I'm pretty sure). Plus, the physical buttons were so nice for music/podcast playback, being able to quickly change songs while running or cycling and not having to look at the screen was a really nice touch.

I'm going to preorder one after my pay comes through later this week, would love to start making some nice watch faces and chuck them up.

I didn't get a pebble when thye came out, i don't typically wear a watch (i work with electronics and ride a motorbike so it would often get in the way or be a shorting risk).

I've found the pixel 2 pretty good, though i do miss having proper buttons, I like how i can assign home assistant buttons to it and i can open my garage door through my gloves which is an added bonus.

but yes, i think i'd like to be able to do custom watch faces, and the music control via touch suuuucks.

I was an OG pebble user and quite like how it worked, later I had various fit bits and had some fun making apps and watch faces.   The fitbit emulator was very useful.

My feelings about smartwatches is they shime best when you do two or three thing very well, and utility drops of the more complex they get.

I have a Garmin now, Time, GPS (distance), Heartrate.  All I really need.
