We will indeed have to put a vote in for swifts!
Unfortunately, the public only get to vote on the short list drawn up by a panel of experts:
“The panel of experts choosing the contenders to feature on the next set of Bank of England designs is made up of wildlife filmmakers and presenters Gordon Buchanan, Miranda Krestovnikoff and Nadeem Perera, alongside Ulster Wildlife's Katy Bell, and academics Steve Ormerod and Dawn Scott.”
I suppose using the contact form on the BBC webpage is a start but it is not clear how the panel will decide and the way in which we can try and influence them.
Does anyone know these people personally?
If we fail to get swifts on the shortlist that is the end of getting them on a banknote.
