Unfortunately the newly published NPPF is the same re swift bricks as it has been since 2019. Many people don't realise this so when they hear 'newly published' think that the Government has acted. They have not. So we need to keep informing our MPs that this guidance is ineffective and mandating swift bricks is feasible and urgently necessary.
Thanks so much for contacting your MP!

Very sad yet again. These people know nothing about nature recovery - not
a thing. I hope this gets the support it deserves - the support our
wildlife and future generations deserve.

Hi,

Just received this positive response from our local MP.

Dear Tony & Anne Croft,

Thank you for taking the time to write to me about swift conservation.
You are absolutely right that threatened species like swifts must be
protected. New homes being built do not have to be at odds with nature and
environmental goals – these seemingly separate missions can work together
in harmony. The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government have
added text to the National Planning Policy Framework to encourage the
incorporation of features to protect threatened species, including swifts.
Thank you for writing to me about this important matter.

Hi all,

I was checking a church tower nest box and found these droppings in it. No other signs of nesting but we did see swifts prospecting around the tower last August.

Could they be swift?

Thanks Harriet

These look too small for a Swift, more likely a tit. I have been casting around trying to find a picture of Swift droppings. In this video clip there are 2 droppings. One near the entrance on the right and the other partly hidden in the bottom right, which the adult Swft eventually consumes. Both droppings are much bigger and fatter than your droppings.
