Brilliant Bird Fair

Dear All
The Swift Stand was very successful again at the recent Global Bird Fair
near Rutland Water - despite the heatwave and it being the hottest weekend
of the year!
We owe huge thanks to all the SLN members who volunteered to man the stand
for various periods over the 3 days, some travelling considerable
distances. It could not happen without you all and we were certainly kept
very busy. The camaraderie of meeting up with each other again is good fun
and defiitely one of the attractions of helping at Bird Fair. And a special
thanks to the volunteers who worked so hard with AfS to build everything and
put it all together on set-up day. We were all grateful to AfS (and others)
who generously kept us supplied throughout the 3 days with iced coffees from
the stall near our marquee!
With grateful thanks to Action for Swifts Trading for support, the double
stand looked terriffic - see attached pictures - all the AfS team really
worked their socks off over 4 days. The clever "walls" with pull-out swift
nest bricks, boxes and soffitt boxes made demonstrating them to visitors
very clear. Thank you Jim and Tim for making them!
Maybe we should invite the nail artist to attend next year?
We do hope that as many of you as possible will volunteer to help next year
and support this great event - our swifts need you!
