So now that there is swift...@swift.org, is this list obsolete?

I will take the resounding silence as a "yes"....

Having just unsubscribed from swift...@swift.org I’d say this list isn’t obsolete yet. The traffic on swift-users is (for now, anyway) mostly “how can I compile swift on my flavor of Linux”. I suspect that will change over time, but until it does I’ll post swift language type questions here (or on the cocoa list).

Sorry, I meant to reply, but I was waiting for the initial flood of “I can’t build on my favorite distro” posts to die down before rushing to judgment :)

We’re now getting some substantive discussion of the language itself on the new list, with a lot of involvement from Apple engineers, which is great. So yeah, I’d say this list has probably served its purpose and I’ll put it in hibernation soon. (I won’t delete it, since the archives may be of use to people following links or doing web searches.)

That said, if you subscribe to swift-users be prepared to put up with a lot of Linux questions. Hopefully they’ll figure out they need a separate list for that.

FWIW, our intention was to start with a relatively small number of lists, and split them up as there is demand. In a month or so, things will (hopefully!) settle, and we’ll consider splitting out the -users list at that point.
