I would not try to calibrate that model. You need to look at your model set up and the timing between the observed flow and rainfall.
With 5 simulations you cannot generate new parameters. Do a few hundred simulations.
Next time don't upload Echo files. Upload these files:

- screenshot of error
- par_inf.txt
- extract_rch.def (or extract_hru.def)  (or etc.) which ever being used
- observed_rch.txt (or observed_hru.txt) (or etc.) which ever being used
- observed.txt
- file.cio
- var_file_rch.txt (or var_file_hru.txt) (or etc.) (which ever being used)
- extract_rch_No_Obs.def and 95ppu_No_Obs.def (and others if used)

thank you so much Prof Abbaspour, I tried again with simulation numbers of 100 and 200, but still, it gives me a message that the new_pars.text does not exist and i can not open the New-pars.txt file in order to import it for the next iteration. my r2 value is to low (0.07) so I need to do more iteration to get a better value of R2. the files as you mentioned, I uploaded it, but the file with extract-rch.def or extract_hru.def names I did not find.

hope to overcome the problem.

please don't dump all files here, only the ones that are relevant.
file.cio says simulations begin in 2009 and your observed file has data from 2010. Refer to manual about missing data.

thank you prof Abbaspour, I read the SWAT-CUP manual, it says that if the beginning year of the SWAT simulation is, for example, like in my case 2009 and the end year 2018 and 1 year of the warm-up period then the interest data to the SWAT-CUP will be from 2010-2018 in my case, so that is why I used the observe data from 2010-2018. the manul explanation is shown in the attached image.
is it right ? or not?

You did not have 1 year warm up period in file.cio.

thank you, sir, I correct the problem now it is ok
now I have just two more questions
1) when I run the SWAT model for the simulation period of 01/01/2009 to 30/12/ 2018 with one year of warm period, and my observe discharge data is in the same interval (01/01/2009 to 30/12/2018) now I want to calibrate and validate the SWAT result using SWAT-CUP. I defined the calibration interval to be from 01/01/2010 to 30/12/2016 and the remaining data for validation. my question is that. can I use this data in the case when the SWAT output or simulated data are from 01/01/2010 to 30/12/ 2018? I mean the simulated data points and observe data points that will use for calibration or validation are not the same.
2) in my case the SWAT divided the watershed into 16 sub-basin, I have 8 gauge stations and I want to calibrate and validate the result to compare with gauges values.
my question is how to link the sub-basin to their corresponding station? because I have 16 sub-basins but I do not that which sub-basin is linked to which gauge station.

THANK YOU SO MUCH

Calibration and validation are two separate runs. First, calibrate for the calibration period, then update observation and other relevant files for the validation period and make one iteration using the calibrated parameter ranges.
You have to add the observation outlets in the arc-swat at the beginning so arc-swat can make subbasins for those outlets.

thank you, sir,
when I increased the number of parameters and simulation number to 200 or 100, the model is not working, it gives me a message as shown in the attached image. for the same inputs, I was running several time it was working fine, but now I just add some more parameters and increased the simulation period. I tried to find the solution.

thank you so much?

Bad choice of parameters or parameter ranges causing swat to crash.

thank you, sir,
how can I select good parameters and the range?
I select the parameters and their ranges from some literature which were carried out in the same area.
so is there another option who to choose these parameters and their range.

Dear users, do you have any suggestions for this problem.
I tried to copy SWAT2012 from ArcSWAT folder and replace it in SWAT-CUP project folder (SWAT.exe), but it doesn't work
I also disabled the antivirus and tried again and it still does not work.
Your suggestions are welcome
thank you

I also have problem in New-pars.txt file. In file.cio data is from 1981 to 2020 with 3 yrs warmup. But in swatcup I kept data from 2001 to 2007 for calibration. Do this give error?
