They came out with a new model to add to the SV line/heritage. Not sure what to think, but I will definitely stick with my 01 SV650S.

It does look interesting. All the electronic rider aid farkles seem so unnecessary (same with the DRZ4) given how the engine lays down power. I know it’s so they can charge more, and it seems to be what the current generation of riders expect.

Also, it’s sort of weird as it’s edging in on the DL650’s territory with the upright riding position, fairing, and windshield. Yeah, it’s got street wheels and tires, so I guess it’s more sport touring than kinda dirt-adjacent?

I’m thinking that If I get another SV, it’s gonna be ‘99-‘02. I can be in control of fuel/air ratios with jets and needles. Everything is a known quantity. Man, I wish I hadn’t sold mine.

Nothing beat the looks of a first generation naked SV. It offered a great opportunity for modifications. I added a Ducati windscreen and a cover for the pillion and a couple other custom tweaks and set off on some delightful tours. Subsequent attempts to improve its looks just fell flat IMO.

I dig that they're making comfortable sporty bikes for those of us who
can't ride a GSX-R for more than 20 minutes anymore.

It's stupid that they're calling it the "SV-7", It's not even a 650cc
engine, couldn't they have called it the SV-650GX?

The '02 SV is still my favorite look, but I gotta say, this SV is spec-wise quite in line with what I have been wanting to get if I ever got a motorcycle again.

When I started motorcycling again in '06 after getting rid of my 1983 RD350 in '89, the reason I settled on the SV650 was because it still looked like a motorcycle, not a plastic clad robo-cat. I love a single round headlight.
