Job
Description:
1.
SM is responsible for Team meeting all
deadlines (Sprint/Release).
- Do
not commit to more than the team can deliver, manage the teams schedule
for success.
- Team
members will create impediment in Jira when there are blockers which will
prevent them from completing a task within the hours or target date.
- SM
will work this queue
- Queue
will be reviewed for organizational visibility.
- Escalate
Impediments when appropriate, but when escalated SM will continue to own
the problem and push for resolution by working with necessary Stakeholders
- Create/propose
adoption of processes to sandbox what you cannot control - to ensure
- SM
has the authority to manage the team to meeting the definition of
success.
- Example,
dashboard or report is showing incomplete because someone external to the
team needs to do another task or update. Need to adjust processes
so that the team and SM own their own fate, in terms of showing success.
- Motivate
the team to complete the committed work on time.
2.
Create and maintain Development Plans to
track progress to all commitments (Sprint/Release).
- Show
overall status to target dates/delivery
- Must
include Development complete & QA complete at the PBI level, at a
minimum
- Ensure
team updates Jira in a timely fashion so that plans are accurate
- End
of day update of Jira work items by all team members needs to be established.
- Include
task level detail of any PBI’s or bugs/defects at risk of missing
commitment date
- Risks
should be visible as soon as we know, to allow for remediation
- Risk
detail should show task level information leading up to deadline for remediation
discussions (add more resources, reduce scope, etc).
- Easily
identify items pulled into/out of the plans
- After each
/Planning session, escalate items which are not in alignment with Release
plan as risks.
- Own
driving the risk resolution
- Use
the SWAG estimates against the team estimates to escalate.
3.
Daily Scrum
- Review
team members progress against Dev Plans in daily Scrum
- Hold
Team members to allocated estimates
- Challenge/creatively
solution overage risks (ex., if a 1-day estimate task takes 2 days, how
are we going to catch up to meet commitments)?
- Ensure
early visibility to risks by updating the dev plans to show risks, no
last-minute surprises
- Understand
why estimates are exceeded
- Learn
lessons and adopt processes to avoid in the future
