The QA Automation Engineer will play a critical role in the Engineering
department and contribute to the overall quality of the products built. This
role is primarily for backend testing, but the candidate should expect to learn
the frontend as well and help out as needed. You will work for our QA team in
driving test strategies towards major initiatives and continuous product
development. The test scripts should be updated to reflect industry trends as
well as enhancements made to the software or app in order to meet new
technology or business demands.
As a QA automation engineer, you are responsible for designing, creating and
implementing automated tests in order to verify the end-user quality of
software or apps along with the structural integrity of backend databases.
Skill sets that are valuable to this role include programming skills in various
languages or the ability to learn new languages quickly, experience with
automated test systems, design aptitudes, and time management.
Good communication within the team as well as with the programming staff and
willingness to train junior members of staff are all highly desired.
Key Responsibilities:
Write effective testing tools to test complex, large-scale, distributed systems
Use a development centric approach to achieve quality (e.g., build tools with
code and use scripting wherever possible) to test frontend and backend systems
Work closely with Engineering and Product Management to understand user needs
and to develop and adhere to QA processes and guidelines
Analyze test results to discover and report out on defects.
Identify new tools/processes/approaches and continuously strive to find ways to
improve the overall testing and quality strategy
Qualifications:
1+ years of strong coding and software engineering experience in Python
1+ years of working with AWS infrastructure
5+ years of experience using and writing tools to test backend systems
5+ years’ experience as a Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong knowledge of
test methodologies and software release cycles
Proficient in creating and executing test plans based on the understanding of
feature goals, software architecture and how our customers use the solutions
Experience with automated testing tools, such as Selenium Webdriver and robot framework
Experience creating and maintaining test scripts
Able to work independently and drive results in a fast-paced Agile environment
Positive attitude, collaborative, and team player
Experience assembling sanity and regression test suites
Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, continuous integration and deployment tools
like Jenkin
