Fujinokawa resumed training on the 2nd at his heya in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo. He meticulously repeated basic exercises such as shiko, suriashi, and teppo , and finally worked up a sweat with some bouts. Fujinokawa, the youngest in Makuuchi , made his debut in the Nagoya tournament last year. As of June, it has been about a year since he entered Makuuchi. In his debut tournament, he achieved 10 wins and won the Fighting Spirit Prize. Furthermore, in March, he got a kinboshi  on two consecutive days, and in the last tournament, he rose to the rank of East Maegashira 1, just shy of the Sanyaku ranks. Reflecting on his year of rapid progress, he said, "My promotion was faster than I imagined. With each kachikoshi at my highest rank, my confidence grew, and I think that was good." On the other hand, he had a makekoshi of 7-8 in the last tournament. His promotion to sanyaku  at Nagoya has been postponed. He said, "I had a makekoshi, so there's nothing I can do about it. I'm working hard to reach sanyaku." In June, he has a sumo master-class at an elementary school in his hometown of Kyoto, as well as the Koen in Paris. "First of all, I have a Koen in Paris, so I want to enjoy it. I want to go to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triumph. And I want to eat some delicious authentic French food," the 21-year-old said, his eyes sparkling.
