Juryo Tsurugishou ends the basho with a 0-15 record at Juryo 12. This is the first time in about six years that a Juryo rikishi has lost all their matches since Fujiazuma at the 2020 Kyushu basho. For a Sekitori, it's the first time in about four years since Terutsuyoshi at the 2022 Kyushu basho that a rikishi in Makuuchi lost all their matches. Tsurugishou reflected on the 15 days, saying, "It was long. I think it was the longest I've ever experienced." He was not feeling well in his left knee, and was also experiencing pain in his right ankle and his back, preventing him from performing at his best. He is certain to be demoted to Makushita in the next basho. Regarding his future, he said, "I haven't decided 100% that I'm going to retire. I'll think about it slowly after the basho is over. Maybe I'll even compete in the next basho." He got married in January and said, "I want some emotional healing soon. I want to go home soon. I want to see my wife and my dog."
