Sekiwake Kirishima overcame a mishap and beat Ounokatsu to keep his one loss status. kept his one loss. After the bout he revealed, "Today, my tsukebito forgot my mawashi and I was in a hurry. I was worried." The kesho mawashi that he had been wearing for the Makuuchi dohyo-iri until Day 7 was returned to his heya the night before. He was supposed to wear a different kesho mawashi from today, but due to a mistake, it was not in the dressing room. The Makuuchi ring-entering ceremony is at 3:40 pm, but he noticed the absence around 3:20 pm. Fukunosato, the wakaimonogashira  of Otowayama stable, called the heya and had it delivered quickly. Fortunately, the IG Arena is a 10-minute drive from Otowayama beya. At the IG Arena's entrance for personnel, his tsukebito Hakuryuu received the kesho-mawashi and dashed down the corridor making haste, crossing the tatami room in the western dressing room. While waiting, Kirishima temporarily put on the kesho- mawashi belonging to Juryo Daiseizan from the same Tokitsukaze ichimon and prepared himself. There was also an idea to use the kesho-mawashi of the Kyokai , which is worn by the rikishi who performs the yumitorishiki. Kirishima took off Daiseizan's kesho-mawashi and quickly changed into his own which had arrived in the meantime. He made it in time for the dohyo-iri with one minute to spare. Yuuki, the sewanin of Otowayama beya, said, "Those were a miraculous 15 minutes," looking relieved.
.
The cause of the mistake is unclear. New recruit Nishimura, who borrowed Kirishima's mawashi for the new recruits ceremony today had left it in the dressing room instead of taking it home? Or should his tsukebito have brought a new kesho mawashi from the heya? His tsukebito, Kouseiryuu, who was waiting for him at the IG Arena, said, "We're going to have a meeting when I get back to the heya..." Kirishima revealed that he was also pressed for time on the dohyo during his bout, saying, "Time flew by.. I thought there would be one more salt-throwing round. Oh, I found it was a bit unsettling." Although he was constantly pressed for time today, the fact that he won was a relief.
