Wakatakakage injured

The jungyo arrived in Niigata City today and Sekiwake Wakatakakage who is aiming for Ozeki, was unable to take part in the dohyo-iri and did not face Ozeki Kotozakura as scheduled. According to sources, Wakatakakage appears to have injured his ankle outside of training, and although he expressed his desire to participate, he was urged to take it easy. On the previous day, during the tour in his hometown of Fukushima, he refrained from keiko but during a training session with his children, he showed his strength to his 5-year-old eldest son, responding to the voices of anticipation that the prefecture's first Ozeki in 144 years will be born. With less than a month to go until the crucial first day of the Aki basho, Wakatakakage is expected to be preparing carefully from now on.
