Ikazuchi Oyakata's (ex-Kakizoe) 18 yea r old son Haruku is joining his father's Ikazuchi beya' possibly this coming May basho.
An introductory press conference was held at the heya, where he spoke about his hobby of playing video games. Until he was in the third year of junior high school, before he started sumo, he had no experience in sports and "was always playing video games." His mother and Okamisan, Emi (44), who was also present at the press conference, revealed that "there were times when he would play for about 16 hours a day." He said he had considered going into e-sports, but smiled and said, "Compared to video games, with sumo, you can definitely get stronger if you practice. In the world of video games, there are always people better than you." His favorite game is Nintendo's Super Smash Bros. "I think I'm probably the strongest in the sumo world," he declared confidently, aiming to become a Yokozuna. It remains to be seen whether he can liven up the sumo ring with his "Super Smash Bros." as a rikishi.
